If you bring the right attitude, motivation, and diligence, there is no limit to what you can achieve at RWTH Aachen."

We asked one of our recent graduates Srinath Rengarajan, who is a PhD student in St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Strategy Analyst at Daimler AG, what state in your mind about ...

Your recent job situation and your future career:

"After finishing my Masters at RWTH, I am pursuing my PhD in Strategy & Management at the University of St. Gallen (CH) while being employed at as a Strategy Analyst at Daimler AG. On completion of my dissertation, I am open to career options at both automotive companies as well as consulting firms."

Your choice to study Master's at RWTH Aachen University

"As an ambitious person, I believe that it is necessary to equip oneself with the best qualifications and exposure, which is guaranteed at premier institutions. At a time when a majority of my peers were looking to the other side of the Atlantic, I decided to stand apart and pursue my Masters in Europe. At a personal level, a fascination with history and wanderlust provided good incentives to move to the culturally diverse European setting.  As a mechanical engineering graduate with interest in the automotive industry, Germany is but a natural first choice. With such an amalgamation of factors, an opportunity to study at RWTH was really a “no-brainer”!"

Your Study Programme Automotive Engineering

"The program was indubitably challenging and demanding, but also an enjoyable experience overall! The range of core ensured the basis, while the choice of electives offered tailor-made specialization – so much so that I could even switch to management research immediately after the course, while my peers are pursuing highly interesting careers in a plethora of technical domains! To top it off, an internship and two theses modules ensured that students had immersive opportunities to experience a “German approach” to work. The right tools and opportunities are available, and it is up to the student to exploit them thoroughly."

Your benefits of the International Academy’s Master Office

"The International Academy’s Master Office is probably the biggest support I had as a foreign student in Aachen. Over the years, there have been many instances when I have had profound gratitude towards IntAc. From help with finding accommodation, to organizing a range of events like the Christmas parties or the industry excursions – the IntAc has been there every step along the way. It was on one such excursion in April 2011 that I discovered Daimler’s corporate headquarters and the city of Stuttgart, where I am happily working and based now. The troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise of the team went a long way in helping me reaching this point. Even after graduating and moving out of Aachen, it is my pleasure to keep in touch with the IntAc colleagues and meet them in Aachen or at the regular excursions to Stuttgart!"

And last but not least, what is your advice for prospective students

"If you bring the right attitude, motivation, and diligence, there is no limit to what you can achieve at RWTH Aachen. The framework and infrastructure is available, but you have to put in concerted and dogged efforts in pursuit of your goals. For every student who is willing to go that extra mile, there is definitely a very bright future in store! Besides, a degree from RWTH Aachen is quite far from the worst thing you can have in your profile!"
