TANDEM Mentoring Programme: Mentoring means that an experienced person, the mentor, takes a personal interest in a less experienced person, the mentee, provides him or her with experiential knowledge, and generally supports the person in his or her development. This concept has been successfully implemented for several years now in the TANDEM mentoring programs, offered by the Integration Team, a Rectorate staff unit at RWTH Aachen University. In one-to-one mentoring partnerships, typically for the duration of one up to one and a half years, mentees are supported by their mentors – with whom they are in a close relationship –, in the development of goals and potentials.
