Scholarships

There are several scholarship opportuntities available for international students. We highly recommend students to start with the scholarship research as soon as possible. Please find some institutions that offer scholarships or search engines for the same below.

Scholarship Databases


  • DAAD The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) offers on its website a scholarship database with a broad variety of scholarship programmes for international students. Please refer to their website to find more information about these scholarship programmes.

RWTH International Academy Scholarships


Fellowship for Syrian Engineers - Supplementary scholarship for participants of the DAAD scholarship programme “Leadership for Syria”

This scholarship intends to support highly qualified engineering students from Syria to pursue a master’s degree at the RWTH Aachen University via the organization of the RWTH International Academy. It is intended to support Syrian students who are funded by the DAAD programme "Leadership for Syria" and allows a waiver for the tuition fees charged by the RWTH International Academy, which are between 13,500.00 EUR and 30,000.00 EUR, depending on the study programme.

Please note: Please apply before 1 March, also without the results from DAAD. You can hand in those results later, as soon as you receive them.

 

Fellowship for Turkish Engineers - Supplementary Scholarship for Holders of the Joint Master Scholarship DAAD-TEV, Turkey

This scholarship intends to support highly qualified engineering students from Turkey to pursue a master’s degree at the RWTH Aachen University via the organization of the RWTH International Academy. It is intended to supplement scholarship holders of the DAAD-TEV scholarship programme for Turkish students, and allows a waiver for the tuition fees charged by the RWTH International Academy, which are between 13,500.00 EUR and 30,000.00 EUR, depending on the study programme.

RWTH International Academy - Women in Engineering Scholarship

The number of international female students in the area of Mechanical Engineering is relatively low with around 10 per cent according to the RWTH Key Data 2011. This scholarship was established to enable more qualified female engineering students to pursue a master’s degree at RWTH Aachen International Academy in order to establish gender equality amongst the international students of English-taught master’s programmes in Engineering. It is intended for female students who are admitted at the RWTH Aachen University to one of the following master’s programmes: M.Sc. Management and Engineering, M.Sc. Production Systems Engineering, and M.Sc. Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc. Textile Engineering.

Scholarship Opportunities


Country specific scholarships

  • ALEARG Argentinian students can apply for this scholarship. In combination with the DAAD, scholarship holders can receive support for up to two years.
  • ALEPRONA Peruvian students can apply for this scholarship. In combination with the DAAD, scholarship holders can receive support for up to two years.
  • BAföG German students can get BAföG if they fulfil certain requirements. For more information about those requirements, see here.
  • Colfuturo Colombian students can apply for a loan / scholarship at Colfuturo. It consists of studies financing where a half is loaned and the other half donated by this institution. More information regarding this financing possibility can be found on the website.
  • CONACYT Mexican students can approach and apply for a full or partial scholarship. In combination with the DAAD, scholarship holders can receive the full tuition fees and additional support for the monthly living.
  • KfW-Studienkredit Germans, EU-residents, Bildungsinländer and people that have a German spouse can get a Studienkredit if they fulfil certain requirements.
  • KASP King Abdullah Scholarships Program: Students from Saudi Arabia
  • Mummert Website Students from Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Rumania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic or Hungary may also apply for a “Mummert” Scholarship. Please refer to the website to find all relevant information.
  • SENACYT Students from Panama can apply for this scholarship. In combination with the DAAD, scholarship holders can receive support for up to four years.
  • Government Scholarships Programme United Arab Emirates (UAE): Students from the United Arab Emirates
  • Government Scholarships Programme Tunesia: Students from Tunesia

Churches and their scholarships


  • Cusanuswerk: Catholic students
  • Eastern European Scholarschip (Evangelisches Studienwerk): Protestant students from Eastern-European member or prospective member states of the EU from all disciplines and concentrations who wish to start a degree course or are already studying at a German higher education institution.
  • Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk: Jewish students from the European Union
  • KAAD: Christian students from emering or developing countries from Asia, Africa, Latinamerica, Middle East, can apply at the  (Catholic Academic Exchange Organization) for a scholarship.
  • Scholarship for Students (Evangelisches Studienwerk): Students of protestant faith from all disciplines and concentrations, who wish to start a degree course or are already studying at a German higher education institution.

Political Parties and their scholarships


Companies


  • Henry Ford Stipendium Female students of Mechanical Engineering of RWTH Aachen are welcome to apply for the  which offers not only financial aid but also an intense supporting programme.

Other


  • DAAD CAP Matching Fund International students may apply for this scholarship that might support students for up to five months.

Scholarships for students, already enrolled at the RWTH


There are several scholarships for student, that are already enrolled. However, these scholarships are only a partly financial support and cannot secure the entire expenses of the study duration. For more information see: Students
