Programme Objectives

The need for continuous education and specialization is inevitable for professionals looking for career development and stability. Especially in developing countries such professional engineers specialized in the field of industrial facilities are in demand. The M.Sc. Management and Engineering in Design Concepts and Structural Engineering of Industrial Facilities (MME-CONSTRUCT) is an English-taught, international degree programme in the field of civil engineering focusing on structural engineering and risk management of industrial facilities. It includes both technical and socioeconomic aspects. Especially in the development and construction of industrial structures, design problems arise between the interfaces of mechanical and civil engineering. To address these problems communicated by the industry, the intended master course includes aspects from civil engineering and mechanical engineering as well.

Civil engineers are employed in a wide range of fields: whether in traditional manufacturing companies or in consulting firms, in financial institutions or in the food industry, in logistics companies or health care establishments – their flexibility enables industrial engineers to choose from a large variety of different professional areas to work in.

Programme Structure

The M.Sc. MME-CONSTRUCT comprises two semesters of lectures, exercises and practical courses in structural engineering of industrial facilities at the RWTH Aachen University along with an eighteen-week management training at the Maastricht School of Management (MSM) in the Netherlands. The fourth semester constitutes the master thesis, which can be written either at RWTH or MSM.
